Friday morning update.
Hi everyone a long overdue update. Tues 50km, Wed 54km and yesterday 53km. I felt strong all the way yesterday until I reached the outskirts of Amasya in the last kilometer! Total 44,224km for 1,006 road days. 660 kilometers to Istanbul.
Am almost half way across Turkey..
It seems my permit to run across the service path of the non pedestrian Bosporus bridge connecting Europe to Asia is not a formality. I have submitted my passport details and thank the wonderful Irish embassy staff in Ankara for their massive efforts. I got the following message from them this morning.

" Erok spent most of yesterday morning on the phone to various Ministries enquiring about the permission. We are expecting a decision by the middle of next week."

BTW it seems there is huge interest among Irish runners in my return to Ireland to run a lap of the country.
Some runners have already said they will run some days with me and invites are coming in.
Many thanks to Siobhan Clifford whose PR/marketing company will be coordinating and promoting my run around the country. :) Please stand by for an announcement on this very soon. My route is being firmed up with arrival dates and daily distances. I can hardly wait!

Thanks John. That would be wonderful!
For those that don't know.
John Geesler was my biggest rival and friend in competition. He is an american legend! We had six massive battles and the score was 4-2 to John.
I stayed with him and his club in upstate new York when running through. Please see blog archive January 2011.
PS yes you Americans don't get much time off. John uses every minute of his vacation running multi day races. If you can make it I promise you can carry an American flag! Talk soon Tony
PPS. Belated congrats to my former Irish teammate Eoin Keith on his recent victory running 500 miles in the New York 6 day race. I followed the race while running Iran. Eoin beat John! Well done John I know you were also happy with your distance.

Tony, I want to come over and run some with you at the end, I'll have no vacation days left so I'm not sure how I can do it. Let me work on it. You've been inspiring us here in NY state since you've started.
